A Tribe Called Run Land Acknowledgement

We humbly  acknowledge that we gather as uninvited guests in the place now known as Baltimore City, which is part of the ancestral homelands of the Piscataway (Pis-cat-uh-way) and the Susquehannock (Suss-kua-han-nock) peoples. Folks from many Native nations have passed through or lived here at different times and still do. We understand that this place remains home to a vibrant Native community. 

We acknowledge historic and ongoing attempts by settlers and colonial systems of oppression to remove Native peoples from their homelands, to destroy their heritage and even their bodies. We understand that here, these acts and systems are directly related to the enslavement, past and current disenfranchisement, surveillance, and harm of Black Americans, as well as the ongoing oppression of other peoples on this land, and of the land itself. We further acknowledge that settler colonialism exists and is responsible for similar harm in other parts of the world.

May our acknowledgment serve as a point of departure from which we decide what further actions we will take toward the rematriation (re-mate-tree-ā-shun) of Native lands, and the liberation and healing of all of our relations everywhere. 

Today we run for LANDBACK, for reparations, for a FREE PALESTINE, for justice, and for peace.
